Getting The Two Jugs ready…

About this game

How to play

  1. Fill a jug from the tap, pour it away, or pour one jug into another.
  2. A pour stops when the first jug is empty or the second is full.
  3. Get exactly the right amount into a jug to win.

Three levels

  • Easy: Two jugs and a tap. Measure an exact amount.
  • Medium: Bigger jugs and trickier amounts.
  • Hard: Three jugs, no tap: share the juice fairly without spilling a drop.

What this teaches

You never measured 4 directly. You built it from differences. Combining known quantities to reach an unknown one is the heart of a great deal of mathematics.
